Job Summary
Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures in a collaborative surgical team environment. Responsibilities include ensuring the proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies, assisting surgeons in the operating room, and managing the turnover of the operating room after procedures. Key qualifications include a High School Diploma, certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist, Basic Life Support certification, annual continuing education, and knowledge of surgical procedures and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Certified Surgical Technologist certification from the NBSTSA within four months of employment
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Ability to resource advanced technology
- 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures
- Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation
- Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field
