Surgical Services Technologist (Surgical Tech)

Job Summary
Conduct sterile and aseptic techniques to facilitate invasive and diagnostic procedures while ensuring the operating room environment remains safe and equipment functions appropriately. Perform the scrub role across multiple surgical specialties including cardiac, general, orthopedic, and neuro, managing time effectively to complete case turnover within established timelines. Respond appropriately to emergent situations and code scenarios, maintaining patient comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the perioperative setting. Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to address specific issues, report incidents in accordance with procedures, and participate in continuous quality improvement activities. Serve as a resource for students and residents by teaching area-specific skills and promoting staff development.
Required Qualifications
- BLS from AHA
- Graduated from a Nationally-Accredited organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority
- Hold and maintain a national Surgical Technologist Certification by NBSTSA
- Completion of a surgical assistant or surgical technologist certification, including but not limited to a certified ophthalmic surgical assisting credential issued by the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology or its successor organization, that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies
- Completed a Surgical Technologist training program in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Public Health Service of the USA
- Did not graduate from an accredited school but practiced as a Surgical Tech during at least two of the three years immediately preceding January 1, 2017
Desired Qualifications
- Must complete 16 hours of continuing education every 2 years
