Job Summary
In the Bone & Joint Institute of South Georgia Operating Room, the Surgical Scrub Technologist ensures patient safety and sterile technique during orthopedic procedures by preparing and maintaining instruments, assisting the surgeon, and supporting sterile processing with decontamination and proper wrapping of trays. Responsibilities include instrument readiness, sterilization technique adherence, instrument counts with the circulator, gowning/draping, passing instruments to the surgeon, maintaining a clean and organized supply room and OR, operating the autoclave and related equipment, and upholding HIPAA and practice compliance. Requires a high school diploma, completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program with preferred national certification, and at least 2 years OR experience; familiarity with orthopedic procedures and strong communication and computer skills are also desirable.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Graduate of a Certified Surgical Technologist program, national certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in an operating room
- Familiarity with orthopedic procedures preferred
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use computerized software efficiently
