Surgical Scheduler

Job Summary
Coordinate, schedule, and provide surgical information to patients while maintaining and updating physician schedules to ensure proper appointment confirmation. Handle insurance verification, obtain testing and surgical authorizations, and code for all surgical procedures. Assure that equipment, labs, and medical clearances are ordered, received, reviewed, and that patients are notified of treatment plans in a timely manner. Verify required documentation based on physician protocols and facilitate prompt information requests between departments, hospitals, and surgery centers. Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and FLSA. Requires at least one year of experience in a medical setting, knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Word, and the ability to read, write, and present information effectively.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least 1 years' experience in a medical setting
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Word Processing software
- Must be able to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, and type
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision
