Required Qualifications

• •Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) from accredited college or university
• •Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State of North Dakota
• •Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• •Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
• •Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• •Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise judgement
• •Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and to organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments
• •Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
• •Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
• •Patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult residents, patients, family and staff
• •Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations
• •General health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases
• •Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
• •Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position
• •Ability to maintain good balance, stand for prolonged periods of time
• •Good visual, audible, hand and finger dexterity as required for duties of the position
• •Ability to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
• •Physical agility to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with established facility practices regarding unexpected patient safety needs
• •Mental capability to keep informed of new methods and technology
• •General clinical competency in acute patient care
• •Ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care
• •Knowledge in proper use of equipment used in the O.R, assembly of equipment for use, maintaining equipment, trouble-shooting ability and cleaning and disposal of equipment
• •Knowledgeable and aware of legal responsibilities and limits of scope of practice
• •Basic computer skills, such as navigating electronic medical record systems
• •Ability to complete forms and records, both electronically and on paper
• •Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary
• •Ability to assist in evacuation of residents and patients during emergency situations
• •Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases and/or conditions which include AIDS, Coronavirus, Hepatitis B, and Tuberculosis

• •Must be able to answer patient questions and ensure they are kept comfortable
• •Must be able to monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician
• •Must be able to perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
• •Must be able to assist in operating room when needed
• •Must be able to supervise Pre Operative/Post Operative Staff LPN and Surgery CNA
• •Must be able to discharge post-operative patients
• •Must be able to be active in quality assurance and infection control and must be informed and follow OSHA guidelines
• •Must be able to maintain the proper surgery dress code
• •Must be able to attend surgery department meetings and inservices provided to improve individual abilities and techniques

• •Must be able to protect residents and patients from abuse and cooperate with all investigations
• •Must be able to report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy
• •Must be able to participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings
