Job Summary
Surgical Procedures Technician in the San Francisco Department of Public Health assists physicians in the operating room under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician. Responsibilities include creating sterile fields, scrubbing, donning gowns and gloves, preparing and receiving instruments, maintaining sterile technique, assisting with patient transfer and positioning, preparing the operating room for procedures, decontaminating and restocking supplies, and supporting nurses and the interdisciplinary team within the SFDPH healthcare settings. Qualifications include a surgical technology credential or equivalent training, Basic Life Support certification, and relevant scrub experience in an acute care hospital; the role is performed in person across SFDPH facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate of graduation/diploma from surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or equivalent
- OR Completion of comparable surgical technology training in an accredited program
- Two (2) years of experience performing scrub duties in an acute care hospital within the last five years
- Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate from the American Heart Association
- Meet minimum qualifications by final filing date
- Ability to follow procedures, work with interdisciplinary team, and assist in orienting staff
