Job Summary
Interview patients referred by physicians for surgical care coordination. Explain procedures, required preoperative tests, and obtain necessary consents. Coordinate written verification of surgical services in the patient's medical record and practice management system. Schedule pre-admission testing, laboratory work, and appointments per individual physician preferences. Ensure all preoperative items are received timely and submitted to nursing. Provide written documentation of schedules and instructions to patients, scanning copies into the EMR. Requires 3 years of surgical posting experience, proficiency with insurance and EMR systems, and willingness to travel to other sites.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of surgical posting experience
- Proficient knowledge of insurance
- Proficient knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong communication skills, both verbal & written
- Proficient computer software and database skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Very comfortable asking probing questions to patients
- Must demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and patient attitude
- Maintain HIPAA compliance
- Multitasking and proactive problem-solving
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
- Must have the ability & willingness to travel to other sites as necessary within a geographic region
- Able to sit, stand, and or walk throughout the day
- Intermittently required to stoop, bend, speak, and listen
Desired Qualifications
- Computer proficiency and prior experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system is a plus
- Urology experience is a plus
