Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in collaboration with supervising physicians. Assist in cardiovascular operating room procedures, including endoscopic and open conduit harvest. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies. Provide direct treatment and management via prescriptive authority or referrals. Counsel patients and families on health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Document care delivery in accordance with specialty standards and network policies. Participate in staff and student orientation and education.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant
- in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
