Job Summary
Conduct cardiovascular and thoracic diagnostics and treatments in the operating room, assisting surgeons with endoscopic and open conduit harvest procedures. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide direct management via prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on treatment options while documenting care according to specialty standards. Participate in staff orientation and education, working flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialing, and one year of cardiothoracic surgical first-assisting experience.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
