Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in the cardiovascular operating room by assisting with endoscopic and open conduit harvest procedures. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide direct treatment management using prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on treatment options and community resources while documenting care in accordance with specialty standards. Participate in staff and student orientation and education as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialed status, prescriptive authority, and minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
