Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions by assisting in the cardiovascular operating room, obtaining patient histories, and performing assessments. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies while providing direct treatment and management with prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on treatment options and community resources, documenting care in accordance with specialty standards. Participate in staff and student orientation and education. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialing, prescriptive authority, and minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing
- Credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- Prescriptive Authority
- Minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
