Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions by assisting in cardiovascular operating room procedures. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, and order or interpret diagnostic studies while providing direct treatment and management with prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Document care delivery in accordance with specialty standards and participate in staff and student orientation. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance, maintaining confidentiality while collaborating within a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant
- in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
