Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in collaboration with supervising physicians. Assist in cardiovascular operating room procedures, obtain patient histories, and perform assessments via observation, interview, and examination. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies while providing direct treatment and management through prescriptive authority or referrals. Counsel patients and families on health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Document care delivery in accordance with specialty standards and network policies, while participating in staff and student orientation. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialed status, prescriptive authority, and minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant
- in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
