Job Summary
Assist supervising physicians in the cardiovascular operating room by diagnosing and treating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide direct treatment management using prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on treatment options while documenting care in accordance with specialty standards. Participate in staff orientation and education as assigned within a fast-paced environment requiring proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant
- in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
