Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in the cardiovascular operating room. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, and order or interpret diagnostic studies. Provide direct treatment and management using prescriptive authority or referrals. Counsel patients and families on health conditions and treatment options. Document care delivery in accordance with specialty standards and network policies. Participate in staff and student orientation. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialing, prescriptive authority, and minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
