Job Summary
Conduct cardiovascular and thoracic surgical first assisting in the operating room, obtaining patient histories, performing assessments, and interpreting diagnostic studies. Provide direct treatment and management of conditions using prescriptive authority or referrals, while counseling patients and families on treatment options and community resources. Document healthcare delivery in accordance with specialty standards and participate in staff orientation and education. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialing with prescriptive authority, and minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest. Work in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance, addressing individuals with high sensitivity and confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant
- in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
