Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in the cardiovascular operating room, assisting surgeons with endoscopic and open conduit harvest procedures. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide direct treatment using prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on treatment options while documenting care in accordance with specialty standards and network policies. Participate in staff orientation and education, and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to address individual needs with sensitivity. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialing, prescriptive authority, and minimum one year of cardiothoracic surgical first-assisting experience.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant
- in good standing
- credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
