Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions in collaboration with supervising physicians within the cardiovascular operating room. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and provide direct treatment management using prescriptive authority. Counsel patients and families on health conditions and treatment options while documenting care in accordance with specialty standards. Participate in staff and student orientation and education. Requires minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest. Board-certified status and Texas Medical Board credentialing with prescriptive authority are required.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
