Job Summary
Conduct cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries in the operating room, assisting with endoscopic and open conduit harvest procedures. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, and order or interpret diagnostic studies while providing direct treatment and management. Counsel patients and families on health conditions and treatment options, then document care delivery in accordance with specialty standards. Participate in staff and student orientation and education. Requires prescriptive authority, Texas Medical Board credentialed status, and minimum one year of cardiothoracic surgical first-assisting experience.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing
- Credentialed by the Texas Medical Board
- Prescriptive Authority
- Minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- Proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
