Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions while assisting in the cardiovascular operating room. Obtain patient histories, perform assessments, and order or interpret diagnostic studies. Provide direct treatment and management through prescriptive authority or referrals, while counseling patients and families on treatment options. Document care delivery in accordance with specialty standards and participate in staff and student orientation. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance, addressing sensitive information with confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
