Job Summary
Diagnose and treat adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions by obtaining patient histories, performing assessments, and interpreting diagnostic studies. Assist in cardiovascular operating room procedures with prescriptive authority to manage conditions and provide direct treatment. Counsel patients and families on health conditions and treatment options while documenting care in accordance with specialty standards. Participate in staff orientation and education as assigned. Requires board certification, Texas Medical Board credentialed status, prescriptive authority, and minimum one year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting. Salary range starts at $140,000.
Required Qualifications
- A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing and credentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authority
- minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical first assisting
- proficiency in endoscopic and open conduit harvest
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
