Job Summary
Surgical/Operating Room Tech to support sterile field and perioperative workflow in Syracuse, NY. Responsibilities include preparing/maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments, assisting the surgical team, counting sponges/needles/instruments for patient safety, maintaining aseptic technique, handling specimens, assisting with positioning and draping, restocking the OR between cases, monitoring equipment, and collaborating with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia providers in a fast-paced academic medical center/training environment. Requires CST licensure and 3+ years OR experience in trauma center/teaching hospital settings; experience across trauma, orthopedics, general surgery, ENT, vascular, and GYN; preferred exposure to neurosurgery and bariatrics. No First Assist per NYS regulation. 4x8-hour shifts and 4x12-hour shifts; full-time. Salary: $54/hour.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of recent Operating Room experience (within the last 4 years).
- Experience: Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center, teaching hospital, or similar facility.
- Scrub experience required.
- First-time travelers must have experience in similarly sized/level hospitals.
- Technical Skills: Trauma, Orthopedics (Ortho), General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, GYN.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain sterile technique under pressure.
- Key Responsibilities: Prepare and maintain sterile field, pass instruments, count sponges/needles/instruments, maintain aseptic technique, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning/draping, restock OR, monitor equipment, collaborate with team, participate in continued education.
