Job Summary
Position patients for surgical procedures using stabilizing equipment while maximizing comfort and safety. Provide visualization of the operative site through tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation. Achieve hemostasis, assist with body plane closure, apply wound dressings, and secure drainage systems. Participate in surgical suite preparation per surgeon preference cards and manage room cleanup, including removing soiled carts and trash. Requires Certified First Surgical Assistant licensure and BLS certification within 30 days. Part-time schedule of 24 hours per week with weekend options available at Saint Thomas West.
Required Qualifications
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date provided
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
- Certified First Surgical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
- American Board of Surgical Assistants
- National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience
- Associate's degree/Technical degree
- 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience
