Job Summary
Surgical Department Charge leads and coordinates the delivery of safe, high-quality inpatient nursing care in the Surgical unit, oversees patient flow and bed utilization, assigns patient care, mentors staff, and provides after-hours leadership to Maternity and Mental Health departments. Combines clinical duties with administrative responsibilities such as admissions, transfers and discharges, supply management, staffing support, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. Requires a Nursing degree with current registration, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, IV therapy and Central Line Care certifications, and a minimum of three years’ acute inpatient experience; possesses strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure safe, evidence-based care in a fast-paced hospital environment. The successful applicant will hold a Diploma or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and be eligible for Yukon RN registration, with Yukon-specific certifications and a willingness to relocate if offered. Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
- Current registration with Yukon Registered Nurses Association
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- IV Therapy and Central Line Care certifications
- Minimum of three years of recent experience in an acute inpatient department or applicable unit
- Cultural Safety and Trauma-Informed Care Training (desirable)
- Workplace Violence Prevention (desirable)
