Surgical Coder - PHYS

Review, analyze, and code medical record documentation for general surgical specialties to assign correct ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes with maximum specificity. Abstract demographic and coding information into the information system, review documentation for medical necessity, and audit orders and claims before submission to minimize denials. Assess records, prepare reports, and provide technical guidance to physicians and departmental staff on identifying and resolving coding errors. Maintain effective working relationships with physicians and stakeholders while adhering to one or more required certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, or CPC.
