Job Summary
Prepare surgical areas, instruments, and equipment before each procedure and assist the surgeon during implant placement, IV sedation cases, and radiographs. Anticipate surgeon needs, monitor and record patient vitals, and ensure patient comfort while answering concerns. Keep surgical areas clean and sterilized, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and prepare post-operative instructions. Help maintain inventory, order supplies, and ensure compliance with OSHA and infection control protocols. Perform other duties as assigned by the surgeon or office manager, including facilitating other office responsibilities. Requires at least 6+ years of surgical assistant experience, an active state radiology license, and ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Base pay range is $32—$36 USD.
Required Qualifications
- At least 6+ years of experience with proven experience as a surgical assistant
- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- A strong attention to detail
- Well-organized and reliable
- A high school diploma
- A certificate from an accredited surgical assistant program (if required by law)
- An active state radiology license (if required by law)
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to operate standard office equipment
- Must be able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas
- Must be able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods
- Must be able to work around medical equipment and instruments
- Must be able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations
