Surgical Assistant III

Experienced oral surgery assistant to support the oral surgeon before, during, and after each dental procedure. Responsibilities include proper instrument cleaning, autoclave operation, instrument identification, surgical tray setup, room setup for IV anesthesia and surgery, drug protocols and logbooks, patient seating and pre-op setup, chart review, nitrous oxide setup, patient positioning, restraints, airway support for sedated patients, patient calming techniques, instrument circulation and retrieval, post-anesthesia monitoring, determining need for physician review, knowledge of medications used in IV sedations, emergency procedures and equipment operation, daily/weekly/quarterly instrument maintenance, and delivering excellent patient care. Non-surgical duties include restocking supplies, taking vital signs, handling forms and handouts, OSHA compliance, greeting patients, scheduling, charting, patient consultations, discharge instructions, follow-up calls, taking X-Rays/scans, entering EMR notes, coordinating treatment plans with referring dentists, e-prescribe knowledge, dental impressions, and potential supervision of other team members. Requires 5+ years clinical experience, CA Infectious control Certificate, surgical assistant program training, BLS, AART, OMSA/DAANCE, IV administration certification, CBCT and intraoral scanning training, and strong organizational/communication skills.
