Job Summary
Oral surgery assistant sought to support surgeon before, during, and after procedures. Responsibilities include instrument cleaning per infection-control protocols, autoclave operation, surgical tray setup, instrument identification, room setup for IV anesthesia and surgery, patient seating and pre-op setup, chart review, nitrous oxide setup, airway support for sedated patients, patient calming techniques, instrument circulation/retrieval, post-anesthesia monitoring, and determining need for physician follow-up. Also perform non-surgical tasks such as scheduling, filing, charting, patient consultations, discharge instructions, taking X-Rays/scans, and entering EMR notes. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program, Surgical Assistant certification, current CPR/BLS, and a dental X-ray license. Schedule typically Monday–Friday with potential travel between offices; opportunity to convert to full-time. Emphasizes OSHA compliance, patient care under stress, and professional demeanor. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program
- Certification as a Surgical Assistant
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required
