Job Summary
Oral surgery assistant to support the surgeon before, during, and after each dental procedure. Responsibilities include instrument cleaning, autoclave operation, surgical tray setup, identifying instruments, room setup/breakdown for IV anesthesia and surgery, pre-op setup, chart review, nitrous oxide setup, positioning of restraints, airway support for sedated patients, patient calming techniques, instrument circulation and retrieval, post-anesthesia monitoring, assessing patient needs for physician follow-up, and emergency procedures. Non-surgical duties include OSHA compliance, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, filing and charting, patient consultations, discharge instructions, follow-up calls, taking X-rays/scans, EMR note entry, and opening/closing the office. Required qualifications emphasize HS diploma or equivalent, accredited Surgical Assistant program, Surgical Assistant certification, current CPR/BLS, and dental X-ray license (Pano/PA/CBCT). Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program
- Certification as a Surgical Assistant
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT)
