Job Summary
Surgical Assistant II provides first-assist support across multiple service lines in the operating room under the provider’s supervision, performs sterile technique and scrub roles, may function as a Surgical Tech, handles instrument and supply management, assists with patient positioning, draping, and specimen handling, ensures housekeeping of the sterile field, communicates with the circulating nurse about instrument status and sterility, and participates in room turnover and OR preparation while adhering to Universal Protocol and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program
- Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certification
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care)
- One year experience as a Surgical Assistant
