Surgical Assistant II

Oral surgery assistant to support the oral surgeon before, during, and after each dental procedure; responsible for instrument cleaning, autoclave operation, tray setup, correct identification of instruments, room setup for IV anesthesia/surgery, pre-op setup, chart review, nitrous oxide setup, patient positioning, airway support for sedated patients, patient calming techniques, instrument circulation, post-anesthesia monitoring, and determining need for medical review; performs administrative tasks including scheduling, charting, EMR notes, X-Rays, and patient discharge instructions; requires completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program, certification, CPR/BLS, dental X-ray license, OSHA familiarity, strong organizational and communication skills, and ability to provide excellent patient care under stress.
