Job Summary
Oral surgery assistant supporting a surgeon before, during, and after dental procedures; performs instrument processing, autoclave use, surgical tray setup, airway support for sedated patients, patient calming techniques, and post-anesthesia monitoring. Also handles non-surgical duties such as scheduling, charting, EMR notes, X-rays, and patient discharge instructions. Requires completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program, surgical assistant certification, CPR/BLS, and a dental X-ray license; must be highly organized with strong communication and patient-care skills.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program
- Certification as a Surgical Assistant
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required
- Great organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances
- Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude
