Surgical Assistant II

Oral surgery assistant to support our oral surgeon before, during, and after each dental procedure. Responsibilities include instrument cleaning and sterilization, autoclave operation, surgical tray setup, identifying instruments, room setup/breakdown for IV anesthesia and surgery, patient seating and pre-op setup, chart review, nitrous oxide setup, proper restraints positioning, airway support for sedated patients, patient calming techniques, instrument circulation and retrieval, post-anesthesia monitoring, determining if patients need further medical review, and understanding emergency procedures. Non-surgical duties include handling forms and handouts, OSHA compliance, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, charting, patient consultations, providing discharge instructions, follow-up calls, taking X-Rays/scans, entering EMR notes, opening/closing the office, and back-up coverage. Required to travel to DC frequently, HS diploma or equivalent, DC Surgical Assistant license, DC CPR/BLS, and Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) in DC/MD. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm.
