Surgical Assistant II

Oral surgery assistant needed to support the surgeon before, during, and after procedures. Responsibilities include instrument sterilization and autoclave operation, surgical tray setup, instrument identification, room setup for IV anesthesia and surgery, patient seating and pre-op setup, chart review, nitrous oxide setup, patient positioning and airway support, calming patients, circulating and retrieving instruments, post-anesthesia monitoring, determining if follow-up with a doctor is needed, and emergency procedures. Non-surgical duties include handling forms/handouts, OSHA compliance, greeting patients, scheduling, charting, patient consultations, discharge instructions, taking X-Rays/scans, and entering EMR notes. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program, Surgical Assistant certification, CPR/BLS, and a dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT).
