Surgical Assistant I

Assist Surgeon during consultations and treatment; perform basic lab duties (Impressions, pouring up/trimming models); proper instrument cleaning per infection control and biohazard protocols; autoclave operation and function; surgical tray setup; identification of instruments; room setup/breakdown for IV anesthesia and surgery; seat patient and perform pre-op set-up; review charts; nitrous oxide setup; properly positioning restraints; support airway for sedated patients; circulate and retrieve instruments; provide excellent patient care and communication. Non-surgical duties include restocking supplies, taking vital signs, familiar with forms and handouts, OSHA compliance, administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, charting, follow-up calls, may take X-Rays, and daily office opening/closing.
