Job Summary
The Surgical First Assistant in general surgery assists the supervising surgeon in the operating room and in the medical office setting. Responsibilities include intra-operative care as first and second assistant, preparation of the patient, assisting with closure of incisions, and providing office support such as rooming patients, documenting history and physical exams, post-op wound checks, and suture removal. Must be licensed as a Surgical First Assistant in good standing with certification by NSAA or LCCS; 3-5 years of general surgery experience strongly preferred. On-call availability for after-hours/weekend cases; equal employment opportunity employer; drug-free workplace with post-offer drug testing.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed Surgical First Assistant in good standing
- Certification by The National Surgical Assistant Association or The Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologists
- 3-5 years experience as Surgical First Assist in general surgery strongly preferred
