Job Summary
Surgical Assistant needed at Aurora Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to support oral surgeons through preoperative setup, intraoperative instrument handling, anesthesia administration under supervision, radiography, and postoperative care. Responsibilities include preparing and sterilizing instruments, setting up the OR, reviewing patient histories, providing preoperative education, assisting during procedures, monitoring vital signs, maintaining a clean surgical field, processing dental radiographs, managing records in EMR, coordinating with front office, insurance verifications as needed, and ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, current RDA, CPR/BLS (DAANCE a plus), and at least 1 year in a surgical or dental assisting role; proficiency with EMR systems and radiography is expected. The role is based in a clinical setting with typical full-time hours and the ability to stand for extended periods; candidate must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- completion of a dental assistant or surgical technology program preferred
- Current RDA certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification required; DAANCE certification is a plus
- Minimum of 1 year in a surgical or dental assisting role, preferably in oral & maxillofacial surgery
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems, radiography (CBCT, panoramic X-rays), and surgical instrument handling
