Job Summary

Coordinate and document all incoming calls, scheduling surgeries, MRIs, CT scans, and follow-up appointments while managing pre-authorizations and eligibility verifications. Submit medical records, obtain prior authorizations, and queue lab results through the EMR interface. Assist with obtaining prescriptions, physical therapy orders, and work restrictions, ensuring all medication requests are captured by 4 p.m. and patient inquiries are addressed same-day or next business day. Monitor assigned physician schedules for quality assurance, track adverse events, and facilitate patient-reported outcome captures. Provide coverage for peers when assigned and maintain strict confidentiality. Some travel to other locations required.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years as a medical assistant with hospital, home health, or office experience
  • Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA)

Desired Qualifications

  • Two years of surgery scheduling preferred
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Full range of motion
  • Adequate visual acuity to read, the ability to interpret and understand written material
  • Adequate hearing and speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others, including patients and co-workers
