Job Summary
Coordinate and schedule surgical and office-based procedures ordered by providers while maintaining physician schedules to optimize coordination between hospital and clinic operations. Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain required prior authorizations, identifying and coordinating specialized equipment, instrumentation, or personnel as needed. Obtain necessary medical clearances and documentation, assist with patient checkout processes, and communicate effectively with patients, provider offices, hospitals, and insurance carriers. Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system and ensure strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, colleagues, and external partners while supporting efficient clinic and hospital operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in medical scheduling, surgical scheduling, referral coordination, insurance verification, or a healthcare administrative role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and healthcare scheduling or EMR systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and office protocols
- Professional demeanor with strong customer service orientation
- Demonstrates discretion, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive information
