Job Summary
Schedule surgical procedures with facilities and providers, obtain pre-certification, and educate patients on testing, costs, and deposits. Interpret physician requests to coordinate all scheduling aspects, verify insurance benefits, and relay information to the Business Office, hospital, and anesthesia personnel. Order equipment from vendors, answer patient inquiries, screen calls, and maintain accurate demographic and billing data in the EMR System. Comply with HIPAA procedures and participate in office meetings. Position works 8 hours per day in a climate-controlled office with occasional light lifting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or general education degree (GED)
- minimum one (1) year experience in an outpatient clinic setting
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide on all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret insurance co-pays and deductibles
- Ability to apply commons sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to type 45 WPM
