Job Summary
Coordinate and process all surgical patients for the provider, ensuring complete authorization and accurate documentation in the EMR system. Manage the surgeon's schedule, confirm all orders including diagnostics and therapy, and submit authorizations within 48 hours of receipt. Act as the liaison between patients and the provider, handling phone calls and portal messages daily while educating patients on the process. Maintain clinic operations by stocking exam rooms, cleaning dirty instruments, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA laws. Report to the Office Manager and interact with patient services, case management, and external medical groups.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalence
- CPR Certification
- The ability to type 40 words per minute
- Skill in operating a computer and scanner
- Skill in operating software programs including Microsoft Outlook
- Telephone etiquette

- Hearing in the normal range for telephone and personal communication
- manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboards and other office equipment

- Must be available forty hours per week

- Must be able to handle confidential patient files with the highest degree of privacy, discretion, and professionalism
- Must be able to lift up to twenty pounds
- Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds (very rarely)
Desired Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a Back Office Medical Assistant in an Orthopaedic Medical Office
