Job Summary
Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant needed to provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients in General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic settings. Responsibilities include wound cauterization and vessel care, packing sponges, patient positioning for surgeon access, placing clamps and sutures, closing skin with adhesives or staples, applying direct pressure, suction drainage and irrigation, achieving hemostasis, immobilizing patients on the operating table, and assisting with rounding, progress notes, orders, discharges, and consults. Will divide time between Surgical First Assist, Operating Room, and Surgical Floor coverage. Shift pattern includes 4x10-hour days with call (weekday and weekend) and potential for extended or 3x12s options; location is Potsdam, NY. Requires NY State License, Board Certification, BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and Epic experience; minimum 2 years recent experience; travel/lodging provided if needed; full relocation preferred.
