Job Summary
Schedule surgeries and MRI appointments, coordinate with external vendors for specialized implants, and verify insurance coverage while obtaining pre-authorizations. Communicate with patients and families to provide surgical instructions, confirm appointments, and handle inquiries. Submit requests for missing documentation and manage pre- and post-operative scheduling. Perform health information support and follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines. Requires 1–2 years of clinical or medical office experience, scheduling system proficiency, and adherence to immunization requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to ten (10)+ pounds
- Stooping, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, grasping, handling, and balancing five (5) or more hours per day
- Hearing, seeing, and speaking abilities to carry out essential job functions
- Ability to work in an environment with environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, sharps, blood, body fluids, infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials
- Ability to wear protective clothing/equipment when necessary
- Alignment with CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
- Documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
- Documented proof of immunization for Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap)
- Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
- Vaccine records or evidence of immunity prior to 1st day of scheduled work
- Drug free workplace status (pre-employment drug screen including marijuana)
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field
- Experience with scheduling systems
- Experience with EHR software
