Job Summary
Army General Surgeon role within the Army Medical Corps focusing on leading surgical care for Soldiers, retirees, and their families. Responsibilities include examining, diagnosing, consulting, prescribing treatments, and performing surgeries, with opportunities for leadership, continued medical education, humanitarian missions, and participation in specialized training programs. Highlights include involvement in regenerative medicine advancements, development of 3-D anatomical models for pre- and post-operative planning, travel opportunities within the United States and internationally, and enrollment in retirement and benefit programs. This position combines high-level surgical duties with service to the Army and community, along with access to leadership development and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
- Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Must have completed a training program in general surgery
- Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
- U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty
Desired Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited US medical school
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States (DC or Puerto Rico allowed)
- Completion of at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education internship
- Completion of a general surgery training program
- U.S. citizenship for Active Duty service
