Job Summary
Army General Surgeon duties include examining, diagnosing, consulting, and prescribing treatment, and performing surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members, with opportunities in Army Reserve or Active Duty. The role involves staying at the forefront of surgical and medical innovations within the U.S. Army Medical Department, participation in ongoing education and training, potential accession bonus and special pay, and travel opportunities domestically and internationally. Must hold an MD or DO from an accredited U.S. school, current U.S. medical license, and have completed at least one year of GME internship and a general surgery training program.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
- Foreign graduates may apply if they have a permanent certificate from the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates
- Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Must have completed a training program in general surgery
