Job Summary
Surgeon-Scientist, Vice Chair of Research leads an independent research program alongside clinical practice within the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. The role emphasizes mentoring faculty and trainee researchers, developing collaborative programs across the department and institution, and expanding the department's research and grant portfolio. The appointment is at the Associate or Full Professor level with tenure eligibility based on credentials and accomplishments, offering a collaborative environment and active involvement in resident and medical student education. The position is based in Hershey, PA, within Penn State Health, a multi-hospital system committed to teaching, research, and high-quality patient care. The candidate should be an MD/DO (or equivalent) with Board Certification/Eligibility in Otolaryngology and the ability to obtain licensure in Pennsylvania, and should demonstrate a strong track record in research and extramural funding.
Required Qualifications
- M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent
- Completion of accredited Otolaryngology training program
- BC/BE in Otolaryngology
- Ability to acquire license to practice in Pennsylvania
- Track record of robust research, publication and funding
