Job Summary
Lead and supervise surfacing operatives on site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily surfacing activities, including the safe laying, levelling, and finishing of asphalt materials. Supervise the operation of surfacing plant, tools, and equipment, while conducting site briefings, toolbox talks, and routine inspections to maintain compliance with safe systems of work. Monitor productivity, quality, and progress, reporting updates to Contracts Managers, and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and the wider project team. Carry out routine inspections of plant, equipment, and PPE, reporting defects promptly, and promote a positive safety culture by addressing hazards and incidents. Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work where required, for projects based in Inverness and Elgin.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a surfacing or highways supervisory/foreperson role
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Good understanding of asphalt surfacing operations and health and safety requirements
- Ability to organise workloads and manage site activities effectively
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and performance
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexible approach to working hours and site locations
- Must be available for night shifts where required
- Must be available to work across projects based in Inverness and Elgin

- SSSTS qualification
- CSCS Supervisor Card
- NRSWA Supervisor qualification
- CPCS or NPORS plant tickets
- First Aid at Work qualification
