Job Summary
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on surface equipment such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, and hoists. Diagnose mechanical failures and perform timely repairs to minimize operational disruptions. Maintain detailed maintenance records and report on equipment status and repair activities. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop maintenance schedules and improve equipment reliability. Operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments as needed. Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe working environment. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new surface equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician in an industrial or mining setting
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Technical certification or diploma in mechanical maintenance or related field
- Experience with welding and fabrication
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Knowledge of safety standards such as OSHA or MSHA
- First aid and CPR certification
