Job Summary
Surface Maintenance Mechanic responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing surface mobile equipment (loaders, forklifts, trucks, service vehicles, and support equipment); performing preventive and corrective maintenance on hoists, winches, and mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; maintaining material handling systems (conveyors, belts, gearboxes, bins, chutes, pumps, crushers, and screens); diagnosing faults and completing repairs; operating forklifts with limited variation; welding, cutting, and light fabrication on carbon steel and stainless steel for guards and supports; testing functionality and repositioning machinery; conducting routine inspections and reporting unsafe conditions; reading manuals and work orders; coordinating with operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime; following safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship
- Must be 18 years or older
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- Basic use of a computer
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions, which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of PPE
- Ability to perform physical job duties, which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, or different shifts, with advance notice
- Mechanical maintenance experience in industrial, mining, or heavy equipment environments
- High school diploma/GED or two years of equivalent work experience
- Welding experience and strong troubleshooting skills
- Experience with material handling systems and mobile equipment preferred
