Job Summary
Surety Underwriting Associate performs a combination of routine duties under limited supervision, including selection, evaluation, and rating of the least complex risks, and correspondence with licensed agents. Responsibilities include identifying class codes and descriptions, correctly calculating premiums and penalties using the rate manual, selecting bond forms and classifications from extensive form libraries, processing new and notary business, navigating multiple system applications (ImageRight Workflow, Email Form Letters, Outlook) and PC software (Surety Forms Generator, IVANS, Book Manager, Risk Scoring, Credit Report), cross-training in cancellations, adjustments, renewals, notary, typing and word processing, and maintaining professional communication with agents and clients. The role supports a strong customer focus and may involve training other associates, with a hybrid work arrangement at the Sioux Falls location.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of related experience preferred

- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a high-volume environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
- Experience with data entry and processing of business correspondence
- Familiarity with underwriting or risk classification concepts (rates, classifications, bond submissions) is a plus
